Use Cases

Ultranet1’s energy networking technology uses a flexible design to support many kinds of new energy experiences and power the development of new energy products and services. At its core are smart contracts that act like software to coordinate, optimize and reward smart energy use, storage and sharing. Our patented technology is perfect for building and scaling energy networks, automating energy transactions, and creating new kinds of energy experiences, products, and marketplaces that few have imagined yet.

Working alongside you, here are some sample use cases our tech can support. We have more more information and insights to share about each use case-just reach out to learn more:

01. EV Charging Networks

For Charging Networks that want to contractually govern, track, and reward smart EV charging and driving habits, in-cockpit choices, and at-the-charger experiences. Designed to increase battery life, accelerate EV decarbonization impacts, and improve EV resale value, our technology creates detailed records about EV charging actions, dispatch capability, and contracted terms that specify things like the use of regenerative braking, time of use charging, trip routing, and so on.

Additional network functions include programmatic contracted charging and dispatch routines, integration of control data (geofencing, weather, time & place of use, energy price, grid status, and so on), create IoT green lanes, and optimize batteries for reuse and second life applications. Rewards can span in-cockpit content, charging discounts, bundled services, and new things like IoT Green lanes and transportation perks, preferred parking, and boosts of many kinds.

02. Utility and DSO Networks

Many utilities aren’t good with software and lack the tools consumers need to manage and share centralized or distributed energy in new ways. Utilities can support their DER strategies by using Ultranet1 technology to contract and automate customer energy habits and routines and build new energy products and services and collaborations. These automated and scalable networks provide new product and service development vectors to support existing and new DSM and DER strategies, and can also power VPPs, PPAs and more.

This approach creates a foundation for existing Utility strategies, and support entirely new ones. Either way, Ultranet1 technology can provide a strong foundation for creating better consumer bonds that are based on consumer preferences and collaborations, while supporting new product and service introductions form Utilities and their partners.

Utilities and DSOs. please know that we have more to share about new predictive capacity, load shifting, peak shaving, contracted automated curtailments, and how smart contracts can be deployed alongside AI an ML to scale and automate your consumer interactions.

03. B2C Energy Lifestyle Products, Services, Collaborations

The energy transition provides unique paths to B2C energy collaborations focused on new consumer energy products and services. These collaborations can be lifestyle focused (bath and shower, cooking, hair and teeth, transportation, etc.) and designed to help consumers manage and optimize the energy they use for common tasks. Such collaborations – which can be designed to reduce emissions caused by a consumer’s use of a brand’s products – are rare today.

Examples of B2C energy collaborations include consumer products companies that want to decarbonize consumer use of their products, utilities that aim to become energy innovators and lifestyle providers, and platforms, gateways, and networks that want to integrate, bundle, or contract customized energy experiences into their products and services. B2C companies looking for energy market collaborations and integrations, contact us to explore ideas, we have some amazing things to share.

04. Neighborhood, Regional, and Brand Networks

Our smart networking tech can be used to build energy collaboration communities that achieve shared goals and support ambitions. These communities can take many forms, like local networks, regional networks, or branded ones.

For local and regional networks, custom instances can be created to do specific things, such as providing disaster recovery, reducing air pollution, saving money, and more.

For branded networks (transport, energy, finance, CPG, etc.) instances can be created that support brand strategies, products and services. These networks can support new energy Integrations with branded products and services, to measure and compare the energy profiles of shopping baskets, for instance, or reduce the distance to climate neutrality (D2CN) for an EV (see the next use case).

05. IoT Green Lanes, Preferred Parking, Lower D2CN, Social Signaling

Ultranet1 technology can support new kinds of personalized, contracted experiences that focus on lifestyles. For instance, IoT green lanes can allow access to in-network vehicles, EV signaling can shows that a vehicle was charged with renewable energy, and so on. Preferred parking for in-network vehicles can be supported, as well as Iot “Green Lanes” that are reserved for vehicles with low emissions.

New energy and transportation metrics can also be developed, for instance, we’ve pioneered a new “Distance to Climate Neutrality” (D2CN) metric for use by consumers and EV makers to quantify and reduce the time it takes for an EV to work off the carbon it took to produce it.

Energy regulators, network pioneers, and EV companies, please reach out to learn more about our pioneering, patented work in this area.

06. Virtual Power Plants (VPPs)

Virtual Power Plants offer consumers new ways to participate in the energy marketplace at a high level, but without much granularity, network composability, or programmatic consumer choice. Ultranet1 tech applied to VPPs can support and automate how VPPs recruit and retain customers, create consumer experiences, and form collaborations atop VPPs.

Our work can help scale and automate VPPs using the rich data sets and contract conditions of our tech to support VPP AI and ML efforts. The integration of these new data sources can power VPP coordination, dispatch, storage, and predictive capabilities, and incentives, among other things.

VPP pioneers, Utility companies, and EV makers, please reach out to learn more.

07. New Market Development

New Ultranet1 tech and IP support the creation of Social Marketplaces built around energy, EVs, and consumer lifestyles. When built out, the marketplaces can use smart contracts to create interparty agreements to support P2P energy transactions and collaborations, decarbonization credit trades, and B2C energy networks.

This novel, social approach to energy can power exciting new energy markets, support the development of new energy habits, coordinations, collaborations, experiences, and rewards that accelerate the energy transition. Our tech and IP portfolio can support many energy and social market collaborations, such as:

  • A brand contractually bundles, gifts, or embeds a specific amount of energy of a specific type into a product or service along a contracted timeline
  • An automated shopping basket function that optimizes energy savings and carbon reduction in a basket filled with electric consumer products and CPGs
  • A gaming platform that incorporates smart energy habits into play, then rewards players for smart energy moves
  • An utility that helps consumers create a “Digital Twin” of all their dispatchable DERs, stored energy assets, and energy under management
  • Energy optimization markets built for consumers that help people manage and maintain batteries, solar systems, EVs, appliances, and so on

09. AI and ML Imperatives

Our work supports innovative ML and AI energy and product strategies on a broad scale. We expect the energy market and associated networks will inevitably be defined by systems that are constructed as hybrid smart contract and AI networks.

In this scenario, the smart contracts that power the networks output rich streams of data for use with AI-automated network design and management. These systems can power dynamic pricing, and hoc/ software defined networks, and new AI/ML algorithms to support energy control, management distribution and collaborations.

The AI and ML functions can also support Social Marketplaces powered by Ultranet1, to create hybrid energy networks.

09. Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) And More

Consumers and households lack good ways to track and gain attribution and rewards for decarbonizing their lifestyles to make a clean environment for future generations. Ultranet1 tech can help consumers set lifestyle decarbonization goals and adopt new energy habits that match their lifestyles, then get credit for validated decarbonization progress over time. As decarbonization achievements are made and verified, credits of all types can be issued to consumers in recognition of their accomplishments.

Credits of many types can be supported, including Renewable Energy Credits. or RECs, which can be traded or sold by consumers by various means, for instance, inside Social Marketpaces powered by Ultranet1 Social Marketplace tech.

10. Battery And Chipset Makers

Our technology can be embedded into energy chipsets and SoCs that utilities, brands and OEMs use to create new energy products, services, and experiences. For instance, consumer product and appliance makers could provision new products with a secure Ultranet1 chip with connectivity that allows new functionality and networking.

For EVs, this approach can also be used to automatically and contractually optimize batteries over time,to increase EV residual value and support second life applications, create digital twins of batteries, and much more.
